Fantasy Football News - According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazzette (which is not an official source, so keep your cool Roethlisberger owners), Ben is expected to start in week 14 versus the San Diego Chargers. Mike Tomlin later said that Ben will be given an opportunity in practice to prove he is healthy. I believe Mike, and we should all keep an eye on the reports starting with Wednesday’s practice.
FFLockerRoom Take - This would immediately upgrade fellow Steelers Jonathan Dwyer, Antonio Brown and Mike Wallace if Ben were able to suit up. Charlie Batch played his heart out and left everything on the field against the Ravens, and I admire him for that, but Roethlisberger gives the Steelers the best chance to win and gives his team mates the best chance to be fantasy relevant during the playoffs.
Antonio Brown looked pretty good against the Ravens and would have finished with a decent stat line in his first game back from injury if it weren’t for that interception he threw on a trick play. He also returned punts which is a good sign that his ankle is nearly 100%.
Jonathan Dwyer saw extra men in the box with Charlie Batch at the helm, that would not be the case if Ben were in the pocket. Expect Dwyer to run hard and eat up that clock versus the Chargers.
