Fantasy Football News – The Minnesota Vikings have placed Percy Harvin on injured reserve ending his season. Earlier today it was found out that Percy had suffered a grade 3 sprained ankle one month ago. Much worse than previously thought. The time-table for such a sprain is generally 4-6 weeks. He suffered the sprain on Nov. 4th meaning that a return to the field would be in sight soon. The move to put Harvin on IR was a bit of a shock, he had to have suffered a setback in practice. And with the season slipping, it’s prudent for the Vikings to get Percy healthy and ready to go in 2013.
FFLockerRoom Take – This is a tough one for Harvin owners to swallow. They were holding out hope that one of the best fantasy players in the first half of the season would be able to return in time for the playoffs. Unfortunately, it’s time to drop one of the NFL’s most exciting players from your roster. For some suggestions, check out our Waiver Wire pickups for week 14.
Before week 13 I would have suggested picking up Jarius Wright as he was filling in nicely for Percy, but last week he only saw 1 target. He did catch that one target for 13 yards, but anyone in the fantasy playoffs will want to roll in a different direction. That doesn’t mean he wont have a decent game versus the Bears but you can’t count on it.
The player this benefits the most seems to be Kyle Rudolph. Since Percy’s injury, Kyle has been red-hot. Feel free to play him as a low-end TE1 for now.
