Fantasy Football News – The Buffalo Bills have given backup quarterback Tavaris Jackson a 1-year deal that will be worth up to $4.5 million along with a chance to compete with veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick for the starting gig.
FFLockerRoom Take – Anytime your franchise comes out and says that there will be an open competition for your job it really translates into one of two things. There really is an open competition for the starting gig (very possible) or the franchise is trying to light a fire under the butt of said player (much more probable). With that being in consideration, after giving Fitzpatrick some good cold, hard cash not too long ago, it is hard to believe that the Bills are ready to move in another direction so soon. Keep in mind that Fitzpatrick, even when on his “A” game is no more than a low-end QB2 in deeper fantasy football leagues, so even if he wins the gig that won’t mean much except for people playing in deeper leagues. Follow this situation as it unfolds, but the fantasy impact is minimal at best.
