Brandon Marshall, WR, Chicago Bears

FANTASY FOOTBALL ANALYSIS
Brandon Marshall is a much better receiver than people like to give him credit for. Even knowing that, his reunion with QB Jay Cutler went slightly better than was expected. Marshall ended up finishing 2nd in fantasy points among wide receivers, second only to The Man, Calvin Johnson, after hauling in 118 catches for 1508 yards. Marshall has seemed to re-established himself as a top tier WR among fantasy circles. However, there seems to be one concern with Marshall going forward.
About a month ago, Marshall had his hip scoped. It was deemed to be a minor procedure, but Marshall had hip surgeries in 2009 and in 2010. The numbers won’t reflect it, but Marshall didn’t look quite the same in 2011 after the second procedure. He is expected to be ready in time for OTA’s so it would be wise to keep an eye out to see how he is running and such. He will still remain the top passing option in Chicago, so even if he isn’t 100% he’ll get his touches and yards, but it still is troubling to see him continue to be nagged by his hip.
It’s very touch to judge where to draft Marshall next year. It’s very easy to say he should be the 7th or 8th receiver off the board, but after what he showed last year, assuming he’s healthy heading into training camp next year, he is definitely top-5 material and very well could be the 2nd receiver off the board. However, I’m likely going to rank him around 3rd or 4th among wide receivers and the season draws nearer. As long he’s healthy, I have no problem placing him in the first tier of wide receivers with The Man and AJ Green.
