Darren Sproles, RB, New Orleans Saints

FANTASY FOOTBALL ANALYSIS
Am I the only one who completely forgets the fact that Sproles is about to turn 30 this year? Holy cow! Sproles still looks like he could out maneuver a bunny rabbit getting chased by a wolf. In fact I would like to challenge Mr. Darren Sproles to a contest, who could out last who, him or the Easter Bunny getting chased by a wolf. My money is on Darren.
All kidding aside, Sproles is one of my favorite players to watch and own in fantasy football. In the open field, there are few players that can do more with the ball than Sproles, even at his “geriatric” age. He doesn’t get to run the ball much but when he does, he does it at an extremely effective rate. Over the last three seasons, he has averaged over 5 YPC.
The real reason to own Sproles in fantasy is because of how New Orleans likes to use him in passing situations. He’s a PPR stud and in leagues with points per receptions, his stock shoots up by about 5-10 spots among running backs. Last year alone he caught 75 balls and that was while missing three games in the middle of the season due to a broken hand. He came back from the injury with no problems, so draft without worry. In fact, those three games missed, were his first since 2007 when he missed one.
As an added bonus for leagues that allow individual points for return yards, he also has handled most of the kick return duties for the Saints. This isn’t something you can bank on going into a new year but it’s worth jotting in your notes for the draft just in case you are in such a league.
Some might be shy of picking up an almost thirty year old running back but don’t be, he is no ordinary 30. The mileage hasn’t caught up to him yet. In all seven of his NFL seasons, Sproles has yet to eclipse the 100 carry mark.
