Vernon Davis, TE, San Francisco 49ers
FANTASY FOOTBALL ANALYSIS
Vernon Davis has been downward spiraling statistically the last several years; something that is odd to see as he is in his prime, but 2012 slapped many fantasy owners in the face with shock. In four seasons since his best in 2009, Davis has seen his yardage go from 965 to 914, 792 and ultimately last season to 548. His touchdowns have gone from 13 to 7,6 and now 5. His receptions also were cut almost in half from 2009 compared to 2012.
We have a new quarterback at the helm in San Francisco, with the 49ers likely moving quarterback Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs. Throw in Colin Kaepernick who got off to a slow start chemistry wise with Davis until the last two post season games last season when he went for a total of 210 yards and 1 touchdown and it leaves you needing to know more information. Will the playoff success translate into a more productive 2013 for Davis or is it just a teaser? That is really tough to say, but most likely it is a mixture of both and the happy medium comes into play.
Draft Davis as your low-end TE1, high-end TE2 in deeper fantasy leagues. Depending on the draft position, Davis will either make you one happy owner or one very unsatisfied one.
