Mike Goodson, RB, New York Jets
School: Texas A&M
FANTASY FOOTBALL ANALYSIS
Goodson finally gets a shot to be the guy for the Jets. He’s going to battle to be the top dog with third-year back Bilal Powell in training camp, and if he can stay healthy, I believe he has the better skill set to be the dynamic player Shonn Greene never was. He’s extremely quick but has a tendency to east and west instead of north and south. He wants to get outside the pocket instead of hitting the hole hard. If he does get past the first line, that’s when he becomes an extremely dangerous threat.
With only 35 attempts in Oakland last season he managed to break off two 43 yard runs and average 6.3 YPC. He is also dangerous out of the backfield catching passes. Last season he only caught 16 passes but one went for 64 and another for 37. He has the speed to make a fantasy impact and could possibly be a huge fantasy sleeper heading into 2013 drafts.
I love his ability and he is definitely the more dynamic back when compared to Bilal Powell. But once again, it comes down to durability. He’s missed significant time the past two seasons and that is a concern for his owners. But the Jets shelled out a 3 year deal, which gives us hope that he’s fully healed and ready to show the world what he can do.
