Joique Bell, RB, Detroit Lions
School: Wayne State (MI)
FANTASY FOOTBALL ANALYSIS
Joique Bell came out of nowhere to become a PPR machine in 2012. He finished the season with 52 receptions for 485 yards and was largely owned in most leagues by the end of the year. Not only was he productive in the passing game, he also ran for a stout 5.0 YPC and totaled 414 yards on the ground. He was the Lions best overall running back in 2012.
And now it’s very unlikely he reaches those numbers again. The Lions have signed veteran Reggie Bush to lead the running back attack for next season. And since Reggie is an accomplished receiver himself, this might mean little work for the surprising Bell to continue his hot streak.
It appears at first glance that Mikel LeShoure will be handling short-yardage and goal line work while Reggie gets the majority of carries between the 20’s. Joique will still be the change-of-pace back but spelling LeShoure and spelling Bush are going to be two completely different things. LeShoure needed to come off the field more while Bush can stay in for longer periods of time.
If something were to happen to Bush or LeShoure that would make Bell an immediate pickup on waivers but until that happens, it’s best to leave him on the free agent list. That is unless you are in some super deep league with a deep bench.
