FANTASY FOOTBALL ANALYSIS
What can I say about Michael Turner. His time in Atlanta was good. He totaled 10+ touchdowns in each of his past 5 seasons and was a steady fantasy contributor. He was not the flashiest and most certainly was not the “burner” but he got the job done and was usually in the top 10 at his position when the year ended. The Falcons elected to not resign him this offseason and brought in Steven Jackson to change things up. But Michael Turner still believes his career is far from over. If you just look at the numbers on paper, one would think he still has game. But after seeing the dramatic decline in that “game” from 2012, I’m not so sure.
Some would argue his value is in the short yardage and goal line situations but those people are not watching him. Last season, those were his weakest points. It seemed as if Turner couldn’t gain a yard when he needed it. It also looks as if he has no push left when he meets defenders at the line.
Who knows, maybe the right situation pops up and he sheds some weight to regain some of his form. It could happen but we aren’t betting on it.
Let a more inexperienced owner take a stab at Turner, someone will. All they have to do is look at the numbers.
