Dwayne Bowe, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
FANTASY FOOTBALL ANALYSIS
Dwayne Bowe is one of the games best receivers, in my opinion and that shouldn’t reflect on performance, of which showed him catch 59 balls for 801 yards and 3 touchdowns last year. It also shouldn’t be reflected upon the situation, as he hasn’t had a decent quarterback to throw him the ball for a couple years now. As poor as last season was, it still is a miracle he racked up 801 yards, considering the struggle Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn had last year just to get out of their own way.
Watching Bowe over the past few years, one has to wonder how many plays he left out on the field, because after signing a 5 year, $56 MM extension hopefully won’t make that scenario worse. I don’t anticipate it will, thanks to the Chiefs bringing in a competent QB in Alex Smith. I sure hope Bowe can dig deep and give a champions effort going forward, because if he does, he’s going to get a barrage of balls from Smith and likely will rack up 1300-1400 yards.
Despite Bowe’s immense talent, he should be viewed as a solid WR2 heading into 2013, being worth and excellent risk in keeper and dynasty league formats, because if he’s ever going to break out and be an elite wide receiver, this is the year it’s going to happen.
