Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Arizona Cardinals
FANTASY FOOTBALL ANALYSIS
Larry Fitzgerald just had, what he called, “The most disappointing season of my career.” He hauled in 71 catches for 798 yards and 4 touchdowns. That marked the first time Fitz failed to reach 1000 yards since 2006. Don’t worry, Larry. It’s going to get better soon.
Even though they really haven’t done much through free agency to improve their offensive line, other than sign awful players to compete with existing awful players to compete for a starting job, they will likely be targeting a left tackle to assess those needs in the draft. They also have Bruce Arians as the head coach this year, whom I think is a very solid coach when it comes to the line. Which is a very important aspect, considering they signed Carson Palmer to be the next guy to come to Arizona to receive hits from big-bodied defensive lineman.
I make fun, but this team is going to be better in 2013, which bodes well for Fitz. Well… as long as Palmer can stay healthy. Any QB can only take so many sacks and punishment before succumbing to injury, it’s just the way it rolls. Anyways, Palmer, although just an average QB, is still a massive upgrade over John Skelton, Ryan Lindley, Kevin Kolb and Brian Hoyer.
Fitz is at least in the top three players among his position in pro football. The only guy I can confidently say is better, is Calvin Johnson. Fitz should be drafted as a WR1 heading into next season, but watch his ADP. He may go fairly late, so you should be able to get him for pennies on the dollar.
