The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed UDFA tight end Ryan Otten. Otten played for San Jose State and offers ideal size for a pass catching tight end that can stretch the field. He lacks strength though, which will make him a blocking liability. For this reason alone, it will be tough for him to make the final roster. In the NFL, you need to be able to do both or at the very least adequately.
But luckily for him, the Jags do not have a solid #2 TE behind Marcedes Lewis. If he can improve on his toughness, Otten could make the final cut. In his last two seasons, Otten totaled 99 receptions for 1,481 yards and 9 touchdowns.
