Well, it didn’t take long for Lavelle Hawkins to find a new home. On May 1st, we reported when the Titans let him go and he’s already found a new home with the New England Patriots, signing a two-year deal.
The financial details are not yet known, but we imagine it contains very little-to-no guaranteed money. Hawkins will be in the middle of a dogfight to keep his spot on the team. Currently the Patriots have Danny Amendola, Julian Edelman, Aaron Dobson, Michael Jenkins and Donald Jones on the roster with a few others in for camp.
Hawkins does have a shot at beating out Jenkins and or Jones and it’s likely a move to shore up the regression of Edelman’s injury who recently put a walking boot back on, after having taken it off.
Hawkins had one notable season with the Titans in 2010, catching 47 passes for 470 yards. Lavelle also saw some time returning kicks for the Titans and could be used in that role if Edelman were to miss extended time.
