2.3 Philadelphia Eagles Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford, (6-5, 249)
Zach Ertz was commonly placed as the next best tight end after Zach Eiffert and for good reason. It’s unknown exactly what offense Eagles’ coach Chip Kelly is going to run at the NFL level, but he clearly wanted a versatile, athletic tight end. Ertz is a well rounded player, who has solid route running skills combined with sure hands. However, he’s not only a pass catcher, he has the ability to be an every down tight end at the NFL right now thanks to his blocking ability. While he has NFL ready talent right now, he needs to prove that he has adjusted his mediocre down-field blocking, add strength and be able to stay healthy. He should get an opportunity to play right away in the Eagles’ system, but he needs to prove he is tough enough.
