New York Yankees Disable Andy Pettitte, Recall Vidal Nuno

The New York Yankees were forced into placing veteran left-handed starting pitcher Andy Pettitte on the 15-day disable list with a trapezius muscle strain. The injury, suffered Thursday against the Seattle Mariners, isn’t expected to be serious but Pettitte is no longer a spring chicken so his recovery time could take a tad longer than normal. Taking his place on the active roster for the parent club is left-handed starting pitcher Vidal Nuno whom they recalled from their Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre minor league affiliate. Nuno will be the starter in Pettitte’s absence.
