Nationals Place RHP Ryan Mattheus On Disabled List, Other Notes

The Washington Nationals have placed right-handed reliever Ryan Mattheus on the 15-day disabled list due to a fractured right hand. There is no time-table set for Mattheus’ return, but expect it to be longer and possibly much longer than the mandatory 15 days.

In other moves, the Nationals also recalled right-handed reliever Yunesky Maya and left-handed reliever Fernando Abad from their Triple-A Syracuse farm club. Both will provide bullpen depth.

Lastly, the Nationals also optioned outfielder Eury Perez to Triple-A Syracuse. He provides the organization with outfield depth.
