San Diego Padres Catcher John Baker Optioned To Tucson

Catcher John Baker became victime number two on Tuesday in the San Diego Padres attempt to activate catcher Yasmani Grandal. Baker was optioned to San Diego’s Tripla-A Tucson club.

Earlier in the day third baseman Edinson Rincon was designated for assignment to clear space for Grandal on the 40-man roster.

Baker, who is 31, is batting .150 this season for the Padres and hasn’t hit above .238 since 2009, which happens to be the last time he has also hit a major league home run.
