Chicago Cubs Place RHP Zach Putnam On Disabled List

The Chicago Cubs have placed right-handed reliever Zach Putnam on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow soreness.

Putnam, who had to leave Tuesday’s game due to the injury, is scheduled for an MRI so the extent of the damage can be assessed.

This season for the Chicago Cubs he has pitched 3.1 innings, allowing 7 earned runs while striking out four. Armed with a 2.700 WHIP, 2013 has been brutal for him.

The 25 year-old has also pitched for the Cleveland Indians and Colorado Rockies during the past few seasons.
