Boston Red Sox Place Alex Wilson On Disabled List, Other News

Right-handed pitcher Alex Wilson was injured during Monday’s game and was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an injury to his right thumb. The time-table has not been set for his return.

Taking his spot will be right handed Brandon Workman whose contract was purchased from their Triple-A Pawtucket minor league affiliate. Workman has dominated this year, pitching over 100 innings while keeping a 3.21 earned run average while striking out 108 batters. He looks to get work out of the pen in Wilson’s absence.

In other moves Boston also optioned right-handed pitcher Jose De La Torre to Pawtucket and recalled outfielder Jackie Bradley.
