Indianapolis Colts starting RB, Vick Ballard, is going to miss the remainder of the 2013 season. Ballard tore his right ACL during practice on Thursday. A tough blow for Ballard who emerged last season to take the starting job over disappointments Donald Brown and Delone Carter failed to do much.
Ahmad Bradshaw will now start and should move up the rankings considerably. He was already going to get more touches as the Colts eased him back into game-shape but he’s now the man. Behind the man will be Donald Brown, one of the aforementioned disappointments. While I like Donald Brown and always thought he was a better back than Ballard, it never seems to translate on the field at all times. We’ll see if Brown can salvage his career and first-round grade. It’s not a crazy notion that Brown could be the starter for the Colts at some point this year given Bradshaw’s injury history. I wouldn’t go pick him up yet, but keep an eye on him.
I also wouldn’t be shocked to see the Colts brink back Carter for depth. Delone was cut from the Ravens at the end of the preseason.
