Here we are going to take a closer look at the target breakdown for the wide receivers for week 2. Sure if you get 12+ targets in a game it’s a great thing, but what you do with those targets matters the most to us fantasy owners. Below I have a list of the WR’s who got 8+ targets last week. I gathered each players number of receptions and then divided it by the number of targets he received to get a the players catch rate percentage. Then to get a closer look I took the players receiving yards and divided that number by his number of targets to find out who makes the most out of the amount of targets they get.
The average yard per target for the top 45 targeted wide receivers in week 2 was 7.6. James Jones topped the list this week hauling in 11 of his 12 targets for 178 yards which equals out to him gaining 14.8 yards per target. His teammate Randall Cobb also had himself an impressive game catching 9 of his 10 targets for 128 giving him 12.8 YpT.
On the other side A.J. Green had a game that’s very unlike him. He caught 6 of his 14 targets for just 41 yards giving him a very unimpressive 2.9 YpT this week. However I wouldn’t put much of the blame on him as Andy Dalton was pretty erratic Monday Night. But that still wasn’t good enough to beat out Rueben Randle & Brandon LaFell this week as they both came in with a low of 1.6 YpT.
