Quarterbacks Dropping Like Flies —
Both starting QB’s in the Thursday Night matchup with the Cleveland Browns hosting the Buffalo Bills went down with knee injuries. Brian Hoyer was hurt on the 2nd drive of the game when the pocket collapsed and he ran for 11 yards. The way he got tackled buckled his knees in a weird way and was then replaced by Brandon Weeden. Hoyer is out for the season with a torn MCL. EJ Manuel also went out of the game with a knee injury only his is less severe. Manuel will miss “a few weeks” for a sprained MCL. Also in Week 4, Jake Locker was taken out of the game and to the hospital when he was hit standing in the pocket. Ryan Fitzpatrick will start for the next 4-6 weeks until Locker is able to return.
McFadden Injured Again? —
Darren McFadden has tweaked his hamstring, but we’ve all heard this before. It appears that McFadden has missed practice all week and is doubtful to suit up on Sunday against the Chargers. Look for Rashard Jennings to get the bulk of the carries.
Josh Freeman —
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released QB Josh Freeman this week. It doesn’t seem like their are too many interested teams to sign him – even the Jacksonville Jaguars which tells you something about his future.
The return of Blackmon —
Justin Blackmon will be returning this week for the Jacksonville Jaguars after his suspension. They need him as Cecil Shorts looks like he is doubtful for Sunday’s game at the St. Louis Rams.
Head Coach Hotseat —
There seem to be a few head coaches that may lose their jobs here very soon. The short list are Greg Schiano (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Ron Rivera (Carolina Panthers) and Rex Ryan (New York Jets). The only head coach from this group I can see being let go before the end of the season is Greg Schiano. The poor performances and the dislike the players seem to have will have an affect on how soon – but it’s bound to happen.
