Here we are going to take a closer look at the target breakdown for the tight ends in week 5. Sure if you get 10+ targets in a game it’s a great thing, but what you do with those targets matters the most to us fantasy owners. Below I have a list of the TE’s who got 6+ targets this week . I gathered each players number of receptions and then divided it by the number of targets he received to get a the players catch rate percentage. Then to get a closer look I took the players receiving yards and divided that number by his number of targets to find out who makes the most out of the amount of targets they get.
This week we had 16 tight ends with 6+ targets in the NFL. Once again Tony Gonzalez led the group in targets with 14, catching 10 of them for 97 yards.
The two tight ends involved in the Cowboys vs. Broncos shootout were both targeted 10+ times and ranked 1-2 in tight end scoring. Julius Thomas had an impressive game catching 9 of his 12 targets for 122 yards and 2 TD’s and Jason Witten wasn’t far behind catching 7 of his 10 targets for 121 yards and 1 TD.
Emerging tight end Jordan Cameron did not make the list for the first time this year, as he was only targeted 4 times, catching 3 of them for 36 yards. Going forward I wouldn’t worry too much about how losing Brian Hoyer will effect Cameron’s fantasy value. The first two weeks of the season he had success while Brandon Weeden was at QB.
Below you will find week 5’s list. Hope you enjoy!
