AFC East : New England Patriots vs New Orleans Saints Week 6 Pre-Game

Sitting atop of the AFC East as expected the 4-1 New England Patriots look to bounce back in week 6 against the stout 5-0 Saints of New Orleans. Tom Brady and the Patriots look to forget last weeks terrible performance in which they were only able to master a total of 6 points ,the fewest points the Patriots have scored since Sept 11th 2001 in a 10-3 lose to the New York Jets. Through 5 games the Saints are allowing 221.8 yards on average through the air and have allowed 3 quarterbacks to throw for 275-plus yards with 2 quarterbacks able to record multiple touchdowns while allowing 14.6 points per game to opposing offenses.

Owners can look to their fantasy studs to produce this week with the potential of having a shootout between these two usually high powered prolific passing attacks. Multiple reports have stated that tight end Rob Gronkowski, Tom Brady’s main weapon has still not been cleared for contact by team doctors and Dr. James Andrews. Gronkowski has been battling back issues in addition to having 4 off-season forearm surgeries.

Tom Brady saw his streak of 52 consecutive regular-season games with a touchdown pass snapped by the Cincinnati Bengals last week. Prior to last weeks game Brady had compiled a total of 124 touchdowns over the past 52 games compared to just 27 interceptions while including 27 games with at least 275-plus yards passing.

Drew Brees has been a fantasy stud as expected with tight end Jimmy Graham leading all receivers in yards and touchdowns through just 5 weeks. Brees has produced at least 23 standard fantasy points in 4 of the first 5 games this season, including 3 games in a row, and he has not thrown an interception in his past two outings. Brees has only faced the Patriots three times in his career but has yet to throw an interception. New England has only faced one elite-level quarterback this season, which was Matt Ryan in Week 4, and Ryan passed for 421 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Over their careers, Tom Brady and Drew Brees have had a few meetings in which Brady has not had great success against Brees. Brady does look to snap his 0-3 record against Brees and if he can accomplish that, it would be his first victory against Brees dating all the way back 14 years to when Brady was a senior at Michigan and Brees a junior at Purdue.
