Vikings Safety Harrison Smith Heading To Injured Reserve – Recall List

Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith is heading to the NFL injured reserve, eligible to be recalled list after suffering a turf toe injury this past Sunday in a loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Smith, in his second year out of Notre Dame, had become the leader for the Vikings under-performing secondary unit and will be sorely missed.

This injury couldn’t have come at a worse time as Minnesota, who has only one win on the season and is clearly the bottom feeder of the NFC North, will be facing the win-less New York Giants Monday night.

Depending on how the rest of the season goes, there is an outside chance that Smith will just remain on the injured reserve list and fully heal as the franchise soon could be more focused on the 2014 season than 2013.
