If you missed my previous posts on the big name injuries heading into Week 7, find the player you’re interested in below:
C.J. Spiller (ankle, probable): Spiller will play after being a full participant in practice on Friday. He still doesn’t look 100% quite yet and has been giving up carries to Fred Jackson in the process. But Spiller is a dynamic player who broke a long TD run against the Browns just 5 days after initially suffering the injury, so he’s just one big run from fantasy stardom.
Roddy White (hamstring/ankle, OUT): It’s about time. He was already dealing with a high ankle sprain, so the last thing he needed was another lower extremity injury. White suffered a mild strain to his hamstring muscle as well and has already been ruled out for Week 7. Expect White to do well with the rest coming off the bye week, but it’s a bit too early to predict his Week 8 availability until he gets back on the practice field.
Steven Jackson (quad, OUT): Another Falcon already ruled out, Jackson continues to be hampered by the quad strain he suffered almost 6 weeks ago. Apparently Jackson still cannot get that drive through his legs that he is accustomed to having, so until that returns, we won’t see Jackson back on the field. As with White, we’ll see how active he is in practice next week to get an idea about his Week 8 availability.
Michael Vick (hamstring, OUT): Lots of guys out this week, eh? And another muscle injury, specifically of the hamstrings. Seems to be becoming an epidemic at this point, but in Vick’s case, it has totally opened the door for Nick Foles to wrestle the starting QB spot from Vick after being named NFC offensive player of the week. Vick is a running QB, and running QBs don’t do well with bum hammies, so expect Vick to be eased back into things as the Eagles shouldn’t be in much of a rush to bring him back with as well as Foles is playing. Not looking good for Vick fantasy owners.
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring, questionable): Did I mention there’s a hamstring epidemic? Jacobs is questionable to play this Monday night after suffering a strained hamstring. Jacobs has had 10 days to rest after playing his last game on Thursday night, so he should be on pace to play Monday night. Jacobs practiced on Thursday, but was a non-participant on Saturday, which does not necessarily bode well for him. Keep close eye on Monday night’s active list, but it’s a bit scary to wait that long if you don’t have someone on either team to take his spot. Peyton Hillis was signed this week, so he would likely take on starting RB duties if Jacobs can’t go.
Justin Blackmon (hamstring/groin, probable): Blackmon practiced on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday, and was held out of practice again on Friday. However, this was deemed to be a precautionary measure, as his injuries seem to be very minor in nature. Blackmon will play on Sunday.
Danny Amendola (concussion, OUT): Amendola did not practice all week and was not able to progress through ImPACT concussion testing during the week. He is officially listed as out this week
