AFC East Report : Bills RB C.J Spiller still limited with ankle injury

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller (ankle) played on just 14-of-68 total offensive snaps in Sunday’s Week 7 win over the Miami Dolphins.

Over the last 2 weeks, Spiller has rushed a total of 16 times for 66 yards with no touchdowns and has caught just 5 receptions for 7 yards on just 5 targets while playing on 23.1% of the snaps. It’s absolutely ridiculous that the Bills aren’t forcing Spiller to sit down and rest his ankle the correct way.

“The injury has everything to do with it, not just some of it. We’re looking at the production, seeing if he’s getting better and not putting him out there in jeopardy.” coach Doug Marrone said as he talked about Spiller’s limited playing time and production.

The Bills bye isn’t until Week 12. Marrone sounds like he’s at least considering holding Spiller out of Week 8 and rolling with the duo of Fred Jackson and Tashard Choice against the New Orleans Saints. There’s no further word on Marrone’s decision as of now, but we will update you throughout the week.

Fred Jackson continues to shine in Spiller’s absence. Jackson has recorded at least 4 receptions in every game this year accept for Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens while rushing for 50-plus yards in 4 of 7 games and has added 5 rushing touchdowns thus far. Jackson did go on to tell reporters that he aggravated his knee injury (sprained MCL) twice during the first half Sunday at Miami. Jackson admitted Monday those hits on his knee set him back, despite finishing out the game. Jackson made sure to let reporters know that he fully intends to play in Week 8 against the Saints.
