Here we are going to take a closer look at the target breakdown for the wide receivers in week 7. Sure if you get 10+ targets in a game it’s a great thing, but what you do with those targets matters the most to us fantasy owners. Below I have a list of the WR’s who got 8+ targets last week. I gathered each players number of receptions and then divided it by the number of targets he received to get the players catch rate percentage. Then to get a closer look I took the players receiving yards and divided that number by his number of targets to find out who makes the most out of the amount of targets they get.
This week we had 32 wide receivers with 8+ targets in the NFL. Vincent Jackson led the way with 22 targets, catching 10 of them for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns. Since Mike Glennon took over as the starting QB two weeks ago Jackson has been on a tear. He has a league high 36 targets the last two weeks after only being targeted 41 times throughout the first 4 games of the season and has gone over 100 yards and scored 2 TD’s in each of his last two games. Going forward I look for this trend to continue as the rookie signal caller just lost Doug Martin for the season and has an obvious connection with Jackson.
Currently A.J. Green leads the league with 78 targets on the year. Even though he only saw 8 targets this week that was plenty for him to do damage, as he caught 6 of them for 155 yards and 1 TD. This makes two straight weeks Green has gone over 100+ yards and found the end zone.
Although Harry Douglas didn’t make this weeks list with only 7 targets, he rewarded those fantasy owners that started him this week. Filling in for injured teammates Roddy White & Julio Jones, Douglas caught all 7 of his targets for 149 yards and 1 TD. Going forwarded, for him to be able to continue this type of production Douglas will have to get targeted more.
Below you will find week 7’s list. Hope you enjoy!
