Week 13 Sleepers and Start’ems for 2013
We’re in the home stretch! Trade deadlines are passed, teams will be forced to build through waivers which isn’t such a bad thing. The time is upon us to strengthen our benches and prepare for the worst. Nobody can predict the unpredictable and injuries can happen at any second of any game. Solidifying your bench is a must at this point in the game!

WEEK 13 SLEEPERS and START’ems for 2013
Tony Romo Dal @ Oak – Romo is my MUST START QB of the Week! Romo shines on Thanksgiving, going 5-1 in games played on Turkey Day. Romo has thrown multiple touchdowns in all 6 of his Thanksgiving starts, totaling 17 touchdowns to 6 interceptions. He has reached and surpassed 300-plus yards passing in 4 of those 6 games as well. Quarterbacks have totaled 21 passing touchdowns to 7 interceptions in 11 games against Oakland. Also, quarterbacks have thrown for 300-plus yards in 3 of the last 4 games against the Raiders.
Andy Dalton Cin @ SD – Dalton completed just 13 of 27 passes for 93 yards, his lowest total in any game where he attempted at least 20 passes. He threw touchdown passes of 25, 6 and 2 yards in the game, his 5th game with multiple touchdowns in the last 6 weeks. He was also picked off twice, bringing his interception count up to 8 over the last 3 games. Dalton has thrown for 270-plus yards in 5 of those last 6 games as well with 4 300-plus yard games.
Carson Palmer Ari @ Phi – Palmer completed 26 of 37 passes for 314 yards and 2 touchdowns. Palmer has been the catalyst behind Arizona’s strong offensive play recently. Over the past 4 weeks, he’s thrown 8 touchdowns to just 2 interceptions. He’s been interception-free over his past 2 games and has produced 250-plus yards in 4 of his last 6 games including 2 300-plus yard games and a 419 yards 2 touchdown performance.
Ryan Fitzpatrick Ten @ Indy – Fitzpatrick completed 30 of 42 passes for 320 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He was sacked twice and finished the game with a 109.2 passer rating. He’ll look to keep rolling in Week 13 at Indianapolis who have allowed 5 of the last 6 quarterbacks to throw for multiple touchdowns.
Marshawn Lynch Sea vs NO – Lynch is my MUST START RB of the Week! The Saints rank in the middle of the pack defending Fantasy running backs. They give up 4.6 yards per carry and have allowed 6 rushing touchdowns to RBs in their last 6 games. The last time Lynch faced New Orleans, in the 2010 playoffs, he popularized “Beast Mode” with a 67-yard touchdown run and finished with 131 yards on 19 carries.
Fred Jackson Buf @ ATL – Through 11 games, the Falcons have allowed 8 rushing touchdowns. Despite the team’s struggles, they’ve only allowed 3 100-plus yard rushers this season but 2 have come the past 3 weeks. While Marshawn Lynch isn’t a surprise, the Falcons were the team that allowed Buccaneers RB Bobby Rainey to explode onto the scene and run all over them in Week 11 for 163 yards and 3 total touchdowns.
Shane Vereen NE @ Hou – Vereen shared carries with Brandon Bolden after Stevan Ridley and LeGarrette Blount were both benched due to costly fumbles. He finished with 10 carries for 31 yards (3.1 yards per carry) and caught 8 of the 11 passes thrown his way for 60 receiving yards in a 34-31 overtime victory. Vereen will look to keep rolling as one of New England’s primary backs with Blount and Ridley having problems holding onto the rock.
Andre Brown NYG @ Wash – Brown carried the ball 21 times for 127 yards. It was pretty windy in New York, which led to the Giants focusing on the run game. Brown frequently exploited the Cowboys defense, finding big hole and gouging them for strong runs. Brown’s longest run of the day was just 16 yards, so he was more of a consistent threat on the ground. Despite the strong game, Brown was held out of the end zone. Brown also caught four passes for 11 yards.
Larry Fitzgerald Ari @ Phi – Fitz is my MUST START WR of the Week! Fitzgerald has a strong history against the Eagles. In 4 career games, Fitz has recorded 6 touchdowns. He has produced 2 games with 6-plus receptions, 3 games with 75-plus yards and in each of his last 2 match-ups, he’s recorded 100-plus yards and a touchdown in each.
Nate Burleson Det vs GB – He has caught 6 or 7 receptions in each of the 4 games he has played this season. He has recorded 74-plus yards in 3 of those 4 games and will continue to take advantage man-to-man coverage as he lines up in the slot.
Michael Floyd Ari @ Phi – Floyd emerged once again as the team’s top receiver, catching 7 receptions for 104 yards. Though he wasn’t the most targeted player on the team, Floyd managed to come down will all 7 of his targets. While Larry Fitzgerald stole the show in the red zone, with 2 touchdowns Floyd is starting to emerge as a more consistent target for Carson Palmer.
Kendall Wright Ten @ Indy – Wright cracked the century mark for the first time this season but he has recorded at least 69 receiving yards in his last 7 games straight along with recording at least 5-plus receptions in 9 of his last 10 games.
Jarrett Boykin GB @ Det – Boykin continues to thrive with any QB throwing him passes. He has now recorded 85-plus yards in 4 of his last 7 games, he has 5 games with at least 5-plus receptions. Boykin is up to 34 receptions for 513 yards and 2 touchdowns on 54 targets in 7 games.
Other Wide Receivers with nice matchups – Dwayne Bowe KC vs Den, Rod Streater Oak @ Dal, Anquan Boldin SF vs STL, Harry Douglas ATL vs Buf, Rueben Randle NYG @ Wash, Terrance Williams Dal @ Oak, Stevie Johnson Buf @ ATL, Kendall Wright Ten @ Indy, Alshon Jeffery Chi @ Min
Vernon Davis SF vs STL – Davis is my MUST START TE of the Week! Even though he has a tough match-up against a stingy Rams defense, he has been a solid option over the past 4 weeks. He caught 4 of the 7 passes thrown his way for 70 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Redskins. He has found the end zone in 3 of his last 4 games, racking up 157 yards over that span. Davis will face a St. Louis defense that has allowed only 2 touchdowns to tight ends this season, including just 1 over the last 7 weeks.
Tim Wright TB @ Car – Wright might not be flying under the radar much longer. He caught 7 of his 9 targets Sunday in a win over Detroit. Wright now has 5 games with 4 or more receptions after snagging 8 for 75 yards against the Lions.
Coby Fleener Indy vs Ten – Fleener only caught 4 balls, but led the team with 55 receiving yards. He also scored the team’s only touchdown, catching a 17 yard pass from Andrew Luck in the 4th quarter. Fleener received 8 targets, but had a tough time getting open against a tough Cardinals’ pass defense. He continues to be a major weapon for Luck with Reggie Wayne out.
