Wilson has been recovering from surgery to his neck which stems from an injury that occurred during the week 5 game last season. The surgery was completed in January.
As for the Giants running attack in 2014, they hope to have a healthy Wilson to pair with newly signed Rashad Jennings. Jennings played very well for the Oakland Raiders in 2013 and landed himself a starting gig. But everyone knows that Wilson has the talent to make a difference on the field and if he can just stay healthy while simultaneously holding onto the football, he has a shot to be special.
I believe that Jennings can be a serviceable starter in fantasy leagues and if Wilson can’t make it back to health, Jennings can play all three downs. Wilson would be the obvious choice to come in as a change-of-pace home run threat, but he has to get cleared first. And neck injuries are worrisome, especially for a guy at his position. Even if he comes back, ready to go, will another hit to his head cause the injury to reoccur?
You should be able to land Wilson very late in drafts and I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on him. The question will be, how high will Jennings go? Currently, we have him ranked 21st among RBs, based mostly on the amount of touches we see him getting. If Wilson shows up for training camp ready to role, we would downgrade Jennings slightly.
