2014 NFL Draft: LB Anthony Barr Selected By Minnesota Vikings

Anthony Barr – LB UCLA, 6’5″, 255 LBS, 33 1/2″ Arm Length

Drafted Round 1, Pick 9 , Minnesota Vikings

Combine Results: 4.66 Forty | 34.5″ Vertical Jump | 119″ Broad Jump

  • All-State at running back as high school junior and didn’t convert to LB till his junior year of college.
  • Finalist for the Dick Butkus, Bednarik and Lombardi awards.
  • Ronnie Lott IMPACT Award Winner
  • Team Captain
  • First Top Ten pick for UCLA since Jonathan Ogden.

NFL Impact: The converted running back needs to develop his skills in the NFL and would do well to go to a team with a savvy veteran to show him the ropes. His athleticism will take him far but once he learns to the true ins and outs to being a pass rusher, that’s when you will see his best football. It could be a couple of years away, but Barr should be an annual double-digit sack master in the league.

Fantasy Impact: Barr should help any team he goes to in the draft right away but it might only be in certain packages. I don’t expect Anthony to start right away as he does need to develop his technique for the NFL game. Even in a part-time role, he could see close to 10 sacks in his first season based just on his speed and closing ability.
