NFL Impact: This was a classic reach by the Patriots and was a bit of a shock. Easley has some major injury concerns having already had ACL tears in each knee and dealt with other nagging injuries during his college career. He should be ready for training camp and we will get to see if he can hold up in the NFL.

Aside from the injury concerns, the talent is there. He is explosive for his size and seems to win with his first step. He’s relentless and will keep fighting, exactly what Bill Belichick wants in the trenches.

Fantasy Impact: If he’s fully healthy once the season comes around, he could be integral for the Pats during the 2014 season as a solid run stuffer. He will struggle early, adjusting to the NFL rigors, but come mid-season, he could be helping to turn that Patriots defense into a monster. I give a slight upgrade to the Pats defense before the season starts but only slightly. I have major concerns on Easley being able to finish the season off the IR list.
