Reggie Wayne Cleared For Camp

Nine months removed from an ACL tear Reggie Wayne has been cleared for camp, and for contact.  Though he has been significantly ahead of schedule throughout the entire rehab process, the coaching staff plans to ease Wayne back into camp work.  Even though Wayne is Andrew Luck’s security blanket, his age, 35, and the run heavy system that Pep Hamilton employs offer very little upside for the recovering WR.

I agree that it is going to be difficult for Wayne to come back 100% from his ACL injury at age 35. He is such an important part of the Colts offense and a favorite of Andrew Luck, that I would target him as a WR3 in both standard and PPR leagues. I expect Wayne to get around 80 catches and 850 yards with 4-6 td’s. He will produce solid weekly stats, but don’t expect any explosive scoring weeks from Wayne.

He is an intriguing pick. If you draft with a group of guys that are scared by the injury concern and/or age you could steal him and walk away with a guy that has legit WR2 upside. Much like DHB last year, I have a tough time believing that Hakeem Nicks is all of a sudden going to become a target monster and relegate Wayne to occasional slants.
