Jamaal Charles‘ hold out for a new contract lasted all of 4 hours, as Wednesday afternoon the Kansas City Chiefs announced a two-year extension for the bell cow running back. Last year’s salary saw Charles outside the top 15 RB contracts in the NFL and the new extension (two years $18.1 million) lands him just behind the top RB earner, Adrian Peterson. Though the new deal contains no guaranteed money after 2014, it is difficult to imagine a scenario in which the Chiefs cut ties with the star RB after the 2014 season. Charles is the center piece of a Chiefs team that shocked the NFL world by going from the first pick in the draft to a playoff appearance, and his over 330 touches were the 4th most for a RB in the NFL last season. With the new contract coming just in time for the start of training camp Charles, and his fantasy owners, can feel confident in the do-it-all RB heading into the season.
