Week 17 Best Buys
As a frequent shopper, I’m always out there looking for a bargain. We are all not made of money, so we should appreciate a good deal when we see one. The same theory applies to DFS Lineup construction. Consumers are spending their hard earned money on a player and want an ROI (Return On Investment). In this case, a cap is provided to so we as players don’t go over budget. This is when skill and strategy come into play. I ultimately want players that will exceed their value. That’s what I’m here for, to do the dirty work and find you the best ROI players of the final week in the regular season.
Aaron Rodgers | Green Bay Packers | QB
Aaron Rodgers has been a man on a mission since the Week 11 loss to the Washington Redskins. From that point, Green Bay ran off a five-game winning streak and now has an opportunity to win the NFC North Title. With a lot of teams mailing it in you have to target guys who have something to play for. Aaron Rodgers is my favorite play to exceed his value this week in a must-win situation.
Matthew Stafford | Detroit Lions | QB
Just like Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford comes in as another top QB Best Buy. The QB on the opposite side of the gridiron has just as much to play for. Stafford will attempt to stop the surging Green Bay Packers and end a 23-year NFC North Title drought. The Packers pass defense is vulnerable rankings 20th in DVOA. As long as, Stafford can stay upright and the line protects him from menacing Clay Matthews. He can have a profitable day.
Blake Bortles | Jacksonville Jaguars | QB
The Bortles roller coaster is finally coming to an end this year. Currently, we’re going down a steep drop hopefully, we can end on a high note in Week 17. Bortles gets a chance to salvage his 2016 campaign against the Indianapolis Colts. Colts were eliminated from playoff contention last week in embarrassing fashion getting demolished by the now Derek Carr-less Oakland Raiders. Before Carr suffered a broken fibula, he was able to throw for 228-yards and three touchdowns. Bortles should be able to pick apart this putrid secondary.
Thomas Rawls | Seattle Seahawks | RB
Thomas Rawls has been through a huge rough patch the previous three weeks, only totaling 109-yards rushing and zero touchdowns. The Seahawks and Rawls will get relief in the 49ers 32nd ranked run defense. It’s Week 17 we should know this by now start RB’s against San Francisco.
Deangelo Williams | Pittsburgh Steelers | RB
Thanks to the Pittsburgh clinching a playoff berth, we as DFS owners get a little gift. Head Coach Mike Tomlin may sit Le’Veon Bell to keep him fresh and healthy for the playoffs. If he does sit, Deangelo becomes a top five RB this week. In the beginning of the season, while Bell was serving his suspension, Williams averaged 23 DK points.
Paul Perkins | New York Giants | RB
Rookie Paul Perkins will take over the lead back role sooner than you think. Over the last three weeks, Perkins averaged 14 carries per game. I’m anticipating his breakout game. It could be this final week of the regular season that this rookie emerges and sets a tone for the New York Giants in the playoffs. I love Paul Perkins this week he’s my BEST BUY OF THE WEEK at $3,400.
Alshon Jeffery | Chicago Bears | WR
Alshon Jeffery is healthy and getting consistently fed by Matt Barkley. Since Week 15 Jeffery has 19 targets for 11 catches, 181-yards, and a touchdown. It’s NOT impossible but Jeffery is 189-yards away from finishing with his third career 1,000-yard season. I like his upside the Vikings pass defense just got torched by Aaron Rodgers. Matt Barkley is fighting for a starting spot on the Bears next season over Jay Cutler so expect Barkley to feed his best receiver. Jeffery is priced way too cheap this week, take advantage of this discount at $5,900.
Brandon Lafell | Cincinnati Bengals | WR
Lafell has enjoyed the spotlight since A.J. Green been gone. Cincinnati Bengals management had to step in to force Green to sit the last two weeks of the season. I can understand protecting your investment so that just means more targets for journeyman Brandon Lafell. Lafell should exploit the weak secondary of the Ravens with Jimmy Smith out as well with a high ankle sprain.
J.J. Nelson | Arizona Cardinals | WR
I didn’t want to believe the hype before but J.J. Nelson is legit. Besides, the minimal work he took advantage of during Week 13 and 14. The workload has increased significantly since the departure of Michael Floyd. Old man Carson Palmer can still sling it deep enough to speedster Nelson. Look for another highlight reel deep ball catch by him this week again.
Charles Clay | Buffalo Bills | TE
Charles Clay has been a man possessed since the birth of his child. After missing Week 13 matchup versus Oakland, Clay has averaged 21 DK points per game. Things shouldn’t change with E.J. Manuel as their QB this week. Manuel has a tendency to throw to tight ends, especially against the crumbling New York Jets.
Antonio Gates | San Diego Chargers | TE
HE’S GOING TO DO IT!!!! Antonio is only two touchdowns away from history. Just put Gates in as your tight end and focus on your other slots.
GOOD LUCK DFS’ERS AND THANK YOU FOR READING THIS SEASON!
